Why don't more shops sell Maternity Clothes?

I am now 18 weeks pregnant with our second child and a few weeks ago decided to buy a pair of smart black maternity trousers for a friend’s wedding? "How hard can it be?" I thought. The reality… very!

We live in Coventry, so not exactly in the middle of nowhere, but we went to at least 6 shops, 3 of which didn't even have maternity clothes in store. Admittedly, the other 3 did have black trousers but none of them were aimed at the shorter person. I know you can buy on line but I resent having to pay for it to be delivered and then having the hassle of sending it back if it doesn't fit (which is quite likely with maternity wear as sizes differ so much). Then I guess you keep re-ordering until you find the right item. That doesn't appeal either. Plus I hate the idea of buying full price clothes that I then have to alter.

Rant over!

Blooming Marvellous, in Leamington, saved the day with a variety of black trousers and a very friendly and helpful shop assistant. Although they can be expensive, they often have 20% off so fairly reasonable in the end. I also bought a couple of other trousers from Next (maternity short) and as advised by their directory bought my normal dress size. By ordering items into the shop, you don't have to pay for delivery and can try them before you leave. Well done Next and Blooming Marvellous!

Why?: When I saw the name, I loved it! Girliness with a little bit of bite! I am not pro 'women rule', but I am pro equality. Equality does of course not mean the same role, but certainly means the same value!
